I was reading about Emily Dickinson recently — I’ve been slowly working my way thru her collected poems (it’s been taking me a few years) — and she grew a mean garden, it seems (everybody knew her for her blooms); she would give gifts of bouquets and would include a poem. The posy was more appreciated than the poetry, she noted.
Anyway, I’ve written a zillion poems and you can’t sell ‘em. You gotta give ‘em away. We gotta learn to give things away. Even those somebody would pay money for. Learn to give! It’s hard for me.
